We are a family-run tree nursery based near Copplestone, Devon, specialising in growing trees and shrubs for woodland creation, hedgerows, agroforestry and forest gardens.

We understand that saplings with a fibrous root system have the best chance of thriving and will transplant well, providing vigorous growth early on. We encourage this by a variety of growing methods:
Bare root - grown in air-prune and raised beds where the soil health is paramount, improved via the addition of mulch and mycorrhizal fungi (no chemicals or artificial fertilisers). The saplings are carefully lifted by hand, graded, and healed-in prior to sale.
Cell grown trees in peat-free compost using trays designed to last 15+ years, reducing waste.
Potted trees of varying sizes and species for specimen and in-field tree planting, also grown in peat-free compost.
We are committed to following best practice guidelines for plant health and biosecurity, as set out by government regulations and legislation, to prevent the introduction and spread of disease.
Every Autumn, Ben collects and processes large quantities of seed searching the forest and woodlands of Mid/North Devon, for quality mother trees, selected for their form and vitality.
If seed is unavailable that year (trees don't always produce an abundance) then we source seed from Forestart, the premier supplier of quality tree and
shrub seeds in the UK.
Husband and wife partnership Ben and Sarah Fielding founded Devon Tree Nursery together in 2021, after managing a woodland in Mid Devon for 6 years, where Ben started a micro-nursery.
We now have the capacity to grow 50,000 trees.
We can advise on tree species to suit your plan and have created successful EWCO and Countryside Stewardship applications, and have experience in coordinating tree planting teams.
